As Physiotherapists we are regulated by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). In order to use the title Physiotherapist or Physical Therapist, practitioners must graduate from an approved course of study, typically a three-year degree program, and meet a strict set of criteria set out by the HCPC. For a Physiotherapist to be classified as a Chartered Physiotherapist they must also be a full member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). The role of the Physiotherapists is to help people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice. We aim to maintain health for people of all ages, helping patients to manage pain and prevent disease. See some of the common conditions that Physiotherapists treat here.
At undergraduate level, Physiotherapists gain the knowledge and skills to improve a range of conditions associated with different systems of the body, such as:
After graduation, Physiotherapists continue their professional development and work in a variety of specialisms in health and social care. Additionally, our physiotherapists have been involved in education, research and service management in Senior roles in the NHS. Our University training and subsequent courses have provided us with a platform of knowledge which we have tailored to support our current working environment. We feel in this field it is essential to have a background of hospital work to develop our medical knowledge and care of injuries especially whilst they are acute. This experience ensures we develop appropriate care pathways throughout your recovery. Whether this is a recent back problem or a sports injury this background knowledge allows us to treat you effectively or refer you on.
